Building Access Information

Campus Building Access Hours

Please note the hours of operation for each campus building. Hours may change to accommodate special events, extended lab hours, or other operational needs.

For after hours access , please contact UHD Police Department located in Suite 118-North of the One Main Building or call 713-221-8065. Access to the UHD Police Department is available 24 hours a day.

One Main Building
Monday-Thursday: 5:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Friday: 5:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday: 5:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

NOTE: On Sundays access to the One Main Building is available through the University of Houston-Downtown Police Department entrance located off Girard Street.  After entering, please use the elevators in the North Lobby to access the 4th floor. 

Academic Building
Monday-Thursday: 5:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Saturday: 5:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

Girard Street Building
Monday-Thursday: 5:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Friday: 5:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday: 5:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

Student Life Center Building
Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Commerce Street Building
Monday - Thursday: 6:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Friday: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Shea Street Building
Monday - Thursday: 6:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Science & Technology Building
Monday-Friday: 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Campus Building Access During Holiday Periods

During holiday periods, access is limited.  Entry to the One Main Building, Academic Building, and Girard Street Building is managed through the UHD Police Department. All individuals entering these buildings must sign in and out with the UHD Police Department.

Access to the Student Life Center, Commerce Street Building, Shea Street Building, Science and Technology Building, and the Wellness and Success Center, is restricted to faculty/staff with valid access cards.
