Workforce Diversity
The UHD Office of Title IX/Equal Opportunity Services (EOS) is charged with administering a workforce planning program to meet federal requirements for federal contractors. The program helps the University of Houston-Houstom to monitor and evaluate its employment practices to ensure they are free of bias and discrimination based on an individual’s or group’s membership to a protected class.
EOS administers the workforce planning program in compliance with federal mandates and guided by:
- U.S. Labor Department Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (“OFCCP”) regulation 41 C.F.R. Section 60 and its recommendations for compliance with Executive Order 11246,
- 41 C.F.R. Part 60-741, which implements Section 503 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. Section 793), and
- OFCCP regulation 41 C.F.R. Part 60-300, which implements the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended (38 U.S.C. Sections 4211 and 4212).
UHD complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations concerning Affirmative Action and workplace equal opportunity as outlined by policies and procedures to assure that employment-related actions are made without regard to non-work related, personal characteristics such as race, color, sex (including gender and pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity or status, gender expression, religion, disability, age (40 and above), military status, disability, or national or ethnic origin (01.D.07 Anti-Discrimination Policy).
All UHD employees and applicants for jobs at UHD have the right to full and equal consideration on the basis of merit and other relevant, meaningful criteria. Therefore, UHD has developed policies and procedures to assure that employment-related actions are made without prejudice.
