The Center for Advocacy and Community (CSAC) aims to provide beneficial resources to support pregnant students and student parents with childcare, parenting, baby items, and more.

Child Care
The University of Houston—Downtown is partnering with the YMCA of Greater Houston to provide students, faculty, and staff with affordable access to their city's early-care centers. YMCA childcare services are typically offered Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for children aged six weeks to five years old. Financial assistance is available through the YMCA and other subsidies.

The closest YMCA partner to UHD is the YMCA Children’s Academy at Avenue Center. Their website and additional information are HERE. The address is 3517 Irvington Blvd., Suite 150, Houston, TX 77009. Their facility hours are 6:30 a.m.–6 p.m., and their office telephone number is 713-692-3457.

Infant Care: 6 Weeks to 17 MonthsLearn More
Interacting, learning, and growing! Our infant and toddler care programs feature a daily curriculum designed to meet the growth and child development needs of everyone’s early learning needs. The Creative Curriculum has research-based objectives that focus on developmentally appropriate practices and how to offer nurturing daily routines and meaningful experiences for each child. At the Y, our staff will take great care of your infants and support you with daily updates to ensure you are part of the experience as your children develop.

Toddler Care: 18 Months to 35 MonthsLearn More
Toddlers are busy and learning quickly. Our comprehensive Creative Curriculum focuses on responsive care and this age group's essential routines and experiences. Self-help skills, including toilet training, are highly individual and complex. Child development staff will work closely with parents throughout this experience.

Toddler Care: 36 Months to 5 YearsLearn More
The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is a comprehensive, research-based approach that teaches children to be creative, confident thinkers through hands-on experiences. The ten content areas are social-emotional, language, physical, cognitive, literacy, mathematics, science and technology, social studies, the arts, and English language acquisition.

They also provide accommodations for pregnant students and employees, which can be requested through their webpage. EOS also offers training on discrimination, sexual misconduct prevention, reporting, and accommodations.
