Workshop 1: AI Basics & Literacy
Curious about how AI can be used in the classroom? This interactive workshop offers faculty a practical introduction to generative AI while sparking ideas for how it can be used for teaching and learning. UHD TTLC will demystify Copilot, clarify essential IT policies, and introduce prompt creation. We will share examples of how to use AI to create teaching tools like assessments and rubrics, along with resources to support informed decision-making about AI in your courses.
Workshop 2: AI Ethics & Academic Integrity
In this workshop, we will explore the evolving intersection of AI use and academic integrity. Together, we will discuss the challenges and ethical considerations surrounding student use of AI while reviewing practical strategies for safeguarding learning and academic integrity. Faculty will explore their stances on the student use of AI and how it impacts course learning goals. This session will feature information on AI detection, Turnitin AI detection, Turnitin’s disclaimer, and tips for mitigating AI detection false positives.
Workshop 3: AI Resilience via Authentic Assessments
How can we design assignments that inspire students to think for themselves in an AI‑saturated world? This workshop invites faculty to explore human‑centered approaches to assessment that prioritize reflection, metacognition, and authentic engagement. Together we’ll look at practical ways to design assessments and rubrics that remain aligned with learning goals, despite the existence of AI. Faculty will have the opportunity to select actionable ideas for cultivating resilience through authentic assessment.
Workshop 4: AI Resilience via Transparency
This workshop invites faculty to explore how transparency can strengthen resilience in the age of AI. Faculty will have the opportunity to reflect on their own AI use along with expectations for students. We’ll look at case studies of student and faculty AI use in higher education and consider strategies for building course statements that set clear expectations. By promoting transparent guidelines and human-centered approaches, this workshop offers practical guidance for thoughtfully communicating about AI use in your courses.
