UHD Is the No. One Choice of YES Prep Students

Over the last five years, 23% of YES Prep students who attended a four-year college chose the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD). More than 1,000 YES Prep students have attended UHD—YES Prep's highest number of matriculants to a four-year college overall. Furthermore, UHD is the university with the second-highest number of YES Prep students graduating within six years.

The Harsh Story of the Student Life Center Site

Funded by the Houston Endowment, the Jesse H. Jones Student Life Center was built in 1997 to give the growing University of Houston-Downtown a hub for student activities. For more than 20 years, the Student Life Center served as THE place for students to gather, play sports, and work out. No one would have guessed that a little more than a hundred years earlier, the site played a shocking role in the Civil War.

Criminal Justice Student Awarded Newman Civic Fellowship

Lauren Parker, a third-year UHD student in the College of Public Service, was recently awarded the the prestigious Newman Civic Fellowship. The program involves networking and academic opportunities, and recipients will convene at a national conference of Newman Civic Fellows, a partnership with the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate.
