UHD Summer Bridge

Get Ready Gators Summer Bridge

The University of Houston-Downtown is committed to expanding educational access and creating transformational opportunities for all students. The Summer Bridge Program integrates an intrusive model of academic support and necessary support services to assist students in their transition from high school to college. Through this program students begin their academic journey at UHD by enrolling in college level courses. Additionally, students benefit from the programming in between courses that includes intrusive academic support in and outside of the classroom, student success services, career counseling, and leadership training.

If you are graduating from high school in May or June of 2026 with a GPA of 2.5 or higher this program is for you! As a participant in this program, you will develop the skills to be a successful student, engage with peers, and establish a connection and sense of community that is essential to your success at UHD.

 
Summer Bridge Program dates: July 7 to August 7, 2026

  • Earn college credits before the Fall 2026 semester
  • Get specialized peer support for Math and English
  • Learn about UHD student life and organizations, free academic tutorial labs, and strategies for success
  • Engage with faculty in small group settings and form a community with your peers

*This will be dependent on submission of a FAFSA or TASFA 2025-2026 application. UHD's school code is 003612.

 

Requirements:

  • Meet freshman admission criteria
  • Graduating high school in May/June 2026
  • Fill out the 2025-26 FAFSA or TASFA
  • Satisfy TSI Requirement
  • Attend at least one Summer Bridge workshop to finalize checklist items and address FAFSA, BMV, or TSI questions.

  • Attend New Student Orientation May 30th
  • Apply to UHD and the Summer Bridge Program

 

Next Steps:

  1. Submit a Summer Bridge Application Form by June 7, 2026
  2. Complete and submit a FAFSA or TASFA 2025-2026 application, which will assist in covering Summer 2026 costs
  3. Satisfy the TSI test requirement
  4. Satisfy Bacterial Meningitis Immunization (state requirement)
  5. Monitor your email for communication

*Please note: You will need to complete both the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 FAFSA applications (the 2026–2027 FAFSA will be available starting December 2025).
