Job Summary
The Director, Center for Professional Development of Teachers supports the professional development of each teacher candidate and provides opportunities for partner school districts to find highly qualified potential employees.
Duties
- Serves as liaison between partner school districts and students within department.
- Coordinates placements for field experience students and student teachers.
- Facilitates work for supervisors, field experience instructors, and work study personnel.
- Manages individual student teaching and field experience-related challenges as they arise.
- Coordinates district experiences taking course schedules into consideration.
- Works and collaborates on special initiatives as required.
- Maintains all relevant data.
Marginal Duties
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct Reports:
- Oversees, but does not evaluate, adjuncts. Supervises student workers.
Delegation of Work:
- Regularly assigns work to subordinate(s)
Supervision Given:
- Trains and counsels subordinate(s). Does not conduct performance evaluations, but opinion is considered when a supervisor is making hiring, promotion, and dismissal decisions.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Master's degree in Curriculum/Instruction, Educational Administration, or a related field.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related job experience
License/Certification:
- Teacher certification is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- School principal certification is preferred;
- Experience in educational administration is preferred;
- Experience in teacher education programs is preferred;
- Experience in creating/leading professional development initiatives for university students or teachers is preferred;
- Knowledge of the standards for TEA and CAEP is preferred.

- Knowledge of professional development initiatives that are appropriate for the teaching profession, and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices.

- Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office;

- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university community.
Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
- Works in an office environment.
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks.
