Job Summary
The Custodial and Grounds Assistant maintains the stockroom and inventory. Transports and distributes materials throughout the university. The Custodial & Grounds Assistant supports the Custodial and Grounds Manager.
Duties
- Confirms all incoming shipments/orders to be accurate by comparing the invoice to the order and ensures all inventory is in excellent condition
 - Assesses to identify inventory and stock-items
 - Accurately maintains spreadsheet to include all stocked materials and equipment
 - Transports and pickups materials, supplies, and equipment to and from surrounding buildings
 - Monitors and reports any missing or lost inventory to the Custodial and Grounds Manager
 - Organizes and sort items on shelving, bins, and displays according to standards
 - Restocks/Refills janitorial closets weekly
 - Provides feedback support to the Custodial and Grounds manager on landscape deficiencies using a work request system (FAMIS)
 
Marginal Duties
- Is on call 24 hours a day for general maintenance incidences
 - Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
 
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 1 (one) year of job-related experience
 
License/Certification:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License to drive a vehicle

- Knowledge of the general custodial tasks that are required on a university campus

Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
- Works in an inside and outdoor environment.
 
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds; ability to climb ladders and stair/balancing required; frequent stooping and bending over;75% of time spent sitting, 15% of the time standing, 10% of the time, regular overhead and horizontal reaching; acute hearing required;
 - Frequent speaking; cultural and regional accents acceptable;
 - Corrected vision to 20/40 color vision and ability to distinguish all colors.
 - No light-duty work. General air-conditioned environment, but occasional exposure to cold and heat; occasional exposure to wet/dry environment; occasional exposure to constant noise and vibrations; normal physical hazards of an office environment. Occasional exposure to fumes/dust/odors. EEO/AA
