Job Summary
The College Career Counselor I helps students to perfect their career readiness skills and to successfully transition to a suitable career path after graduation.
Duties
- Provides career coaching sessions, offering advice on resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profile development, job search strategies, and career assessments.
- Collaborates with various departments and employers as necessary to present students with internship opportunities.
- Creates and coordinates professional development webinars.
- Creates relevant and engaging social media, newsletter, and email content.
- Maintaining department website with relevant and up-to-date information.
- Educates students on all aspects of the job search and/or internship search process.
Marginal Duties
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Career Coaching, Advising, or a related field.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of related job experience, including experience in using a CRM system and in career coaching or guidance counseling.
License/Certification:
- None required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the career coaching and guidance counseling functions in a higher education environment, and of the related trends, issues, and accepted practices.
Skills:
- Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and in using CRM systems;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills; excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university community.
Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
- Works in an office environment.
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks. Must have precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
