Fire & Life Safety Permits

Permit Information

UHD Fire Safety ensures all campus buildings and activities comply with NFPA 1 and NFPA 101 standards.

All construction plans require review and approval by this office, and permits must be obtained for the installation, repair or modification of fire and life safety systems. Additionally, we issue permits for all hot work and open flame events on campus.

Permits Include

• New Construction and Remodel
• Fire Alarm Repair, Install, and Testing
• Fire Sprinkler Repair, Install, and Testing
• Fire Sprinkler Water Line Inspection and Testing
• Hot Work Permit (Cutting, Welding, Brazing, Grinding, Dust)
• Fire Protection System Impairment Permit 
• Open Flame Permit

  • (If you are requesting an Open Flame Permit as part of your EHS Food Service Application, you must first have an approved food service permit to receive approval for an Open Flame Permit for your event).

• Certificates of Occupancy - Certificates of Occupancy will be issued once final fire and life safety inspections/acceptance testing have been completed.
