UHD 77th Commencement Ceremony

5:30 PM – CHSS and CPS

Dear UHD Faculty,

Thank you for registering to attend UHD’s December 2024 Commencement exercises! Here is what you need to know for Monday’s ceremonies:

Parking Passes

If you have not already picked up your parking pass, please do so by 3 PM today, Friday, December 13, 2024. These individuals have your pass in the college:

  • MDCOB: Ruby LaCour-Tyler
  • CHSS: Marlene Chavez
  • CPS: Fernando Lanza
  • CST: Akif Uzman

Please remember your pass! We do not have enough passes to replace any lost or missing passes. Similarly, if you elect to pay for parking ($22 by credit card only), the University has not budgeted to reimburse you for that parking. Monday’s weather looks clear for those who plan to ride the rail from campus to NRG!

Arrival & Parking

Parking entrance #10 will open at 7 a.m. and remain open all day.

  • Please plan to arrive by…
  • 11:45am-12:15pm for MDCOB/CST
  • 4:15pm-4:45pm for CHSS/CPS
  • Faculty and Staff use Entrance #10 off Kirby (see map below).
  • Park in the Maroon Lot.
  • After parking, we are all required to go through a security screening located just outside the entrance doors directly off the Maroon Lot parking area.
  • Enter the NRG Arena and take the elevators to the 2nd floor. Please sign-in and proceed to the robing area and the reception held in the Stockman’s Club with refreshments.
  • Please be advised that faculty arrival time coincides with guest and student arrival.  Please plan accordingly.

Robing

A robing area will be provided, and volunteers will be on hand for assistance on the 2nd floor of the NRG Arena.  Please bring your regalia. Note that the robing area is across the hall from the Stockman’s Club where the reception is held (see diagram below).

Photography

Specific individuals will have their photos taken in the designated photography area.

Grand and Associate Grand Marshals are scheduled to have their photos taken first to allow them time to move to Hall B on the first floor where they will lead the student processional.

Processional

  • Procession will begin promptly immediately after the student processional. Student processional begins at 1:00 p.m. for the MDCOB/CST ceremony and 5:30 p.m. for the CHSS/CPS ceremony.
  • Dr. Villegas will direct the Grand and Associate Grand Marshals, all seating marshals, and banner carriers.  Dr. Quander will facilitate the organization of the faculty and platform procession lines. 

After the Ceremony

  • Recess to the Robing Area to pack up your regalia and gather your things. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon/evening!
