The UHD Gators mobile app, which has been in the making for several years now, has officially launched. Community members can access canvas courses, register and make payment, track the location of the University shuttle, view upcoming events, access P.A.S.S. and review their Financial Aids and more—this is your one-stop shop to access any University of Houston-Downtown resources and portals.
Upon initial use, the app prompts users to choose a role: Current Student, Prospective Student, Staff and Faculty, Alumni, or Visitor, which will direct them to a homepage tailored to their specific needs.
Students, faculty, and staff are required to sign in, which in turn unlocks unique features that allow them to edit their homepage and access items like their virtual UHD ID. Canvas, Concur, and other portals that may require additional sign ins are also accessible through the app. Early student test users were particularly excited about being able to book time with an advisor through the app, make a tuition payment, and see their financial aid details.
The Gator App is the result of a major collaborative effort under the leadership of UHD’s CIO, Hossein Shahrokhi, and led by IT Project Manager Tai Hilaire and the Mobile App Project Team, with key members from IT Enterprise Systems, University Relations, and Enrollment Management, along with support from Graphics, Technical Services, and other campus partners at various stages of the project. This collective effort reflects UHD’s commitment to innovation, student engagement, and delivering a seamless digital experience for the Gator community.
