Many Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB) students can now breathe a sigh of relief due to the generosity of the C.T. Bauer Foundation. For the last seven years, the Foundation has provided life-changing scholarships to MDCOB students, giving more than $4,000,000 to high achieving Gators. Now, we are celebrating the newest cohort of 45 students, recognized at two formal luncheons.
“The program connects them closely with UHD’s Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) and faculty. Many students have already landed full-time roles or internships at the top 20 Fortune firms in the United States and also at the world’s Big 4 Accounting Firms.,” said Armiti Rashidi, Program Coordinator at MDCOB. “They receive strong support from the MDCOB Undergraduate Scholarship Team to leverage every resource and graduate on time, or even early.”
One of the new Ted Bauer Scholars, Mackenzie Pettigrew, transferred to UHD after completing her associate's degree at Alvin Community College. Pettigrew dreamed of attending college, but she couldn’t bear putting the financial burden on her family, especially her mother who never had the opportunity to complete her academic journey. Now, Mackenzie, a double major at MDCOB, can live out her and her mother’s dream: walking the commencement stage.
“I have all these connections and the confidence I wouldn’t have without the scholarship,” said Pettigrew.
For students like Pettigrew, the Ted Bauer Scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It is a chance to focus on academics and the college experience, allowing them to get involved in student organizations and focus on the next chapter of their lives. As the newest cohort of Ted Bauer Scholars begins their academic journey, they join a community of 300 Scholars who’ve turned the opportunity into achievement, and, ultimately, carry that legacy forward into their own career.
