Where Risk Meets Reward: UHD Hosts FEI Houston Conference

In the famous tune "The Gambler," Kenny Rogers once crooned, "You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold FEI Houston logo 'em.”

For executives in finance, these lyrics especially ring true. This year, FEI Houston’s business conference, CFO University, chose the theme, “Casino Royale: Raising the Stakes on Financial Leadership - Where Risk Meets Reward.” Hosted by UHD, the one-day conference from 8:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2024, includes dynamic sessions ranging from topics like, “Navigating the High Stakes in IT” and “Be the House: Decision Making in a High Stakes World.”

Located at UHD One Main Building (OMB), the annual event provides training curriculum for aspiring financial executives and chief financial officers. Attendees can expect more than ten esteemed speakers, panel-style discussions, and a variety of networking opportunities.

As a highlight, the agenda includes a research presentation from Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB) Professor of Finance, Dr. Rahul Verma. In this riveting session, Dr. Verma will present his paper, co-authored with Dr. Arpita Shroff, Associate Professor of Accounting, on “ESG Risks and Market Valuations: Evidence from the Energy Sector.”

UHD students studying Accounting and Finance are welcome to register for the full-day conference. Registration costs $50 for current FEI members and strategic Partners, while attendance cost for non-members is $150.
