Summer's Here! Camps for Kids

In addition, the Houston Rockets are offering their Youth Basketball 4 Skills Development Camp at UHD's Wellness & Success Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 10 – 14. Campers, ages 10 to 16, will work on their agility, shooting, dribbling, and footwork with highly trained coaches and a curriculum created by Rockets legend Matt Bullard. They will receive adidas gear, a camp t-shirt, a visit from mascot Clutch and a Rockets player or legend, two tickets to a Rockets home game for the 2024-25 season, and training from a Memorial Hermann professional.

Spanish Camp

Through Spanish immersion summer camp, children will acquire a new language in a fun and natural way and will be able to use Spanish to unlock their potential and more easily understand and accept other cultures and ideas. These classes are offered in conjunction with Berlitz.

Medical Field Camp

Children engage in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities while learning about medical science and the human body. Campers will take part in health-themed interactive experiences and explore all that The Health Museum has to offer.

Science Camp

Students ages 6 through 12 who make it their business to always look for new doors or exciting possibilities are primed to experience Science Camp, where cutting-edge content immerses them into the intriguing world of science. It's a week of up-and-coming science concepts using experiments, hands-on projects, and slyly scientific games. It's a grand science adventure that leaves students wide-eyed and breathless!

Robotics Camp

Students ages 6-12 who love tinkering with machines and creative problem-solving are primed to love Robotics Camp. Campers will learn how to construct, code, and compete with a robot of their own design in small teams. While having fun, youth are engaged in teamwork, as well as computer science, problem solving using math, robot engineering design concepts, and critical thinking.

Writing Camp

Writing Camp is the place for young writers looking to find or develop their voices. The courses range from skills for beginning writers to skills for students who are preparing to enter college. These workshops are offered in conjunction with the Writers in the Schools organization.

Summer Academy

Summer provides children with an excellent opportunity to get a head start on the coming academic year with courses on money management, debate, and healthcare to prepare for college. Summer Academy offers courses according to grade level, with small classes for maximum gain, including:

  • Public Speaking Institute
  • The Cutting Edge of Healthcare
  • The Middle School MBA
  • The Power of Debate - Elementary Level (Rising 3rd - 6th grade)
  • The Power of Debate - Middle School Level (Rising 6th - 9th grade)
