Student Appreciation Week

National Student Employee Appreciation Week (SEAW) is observed annually, typically in the second full week of April, as an opportunity to express extra gratitude for the impact student employees have on campuses nationwide.

The Office of Human Resources has collaborated with over a dozen departments to plan events and offer scholarships throughout the week, and we hope you will join us in showing your appreciation for these determined and dedicated student employees. Here are a few ways you and your departments can get involved with the celebrations:

  • Consider nominating an exceptional student employee for one of two inaugural SEAW scholarships, generously donated by the Office of Human Resources and Kim Thomas, Vice President for Administration & Finance.
  • Nominations may be submitted through the SEAW Scholarship Nomination Form, and will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29. A scholarship adjudication committee will review redacted materials, select winners, and announce recipients.
  • Create an appreciation poster and participate in the SEAW social media campaign by using the hashtag #UHDStudentEmployeeAppreciationWeek. Posters are available in the Office of Human Resources.
  • Attend and/or volunteer at the events throughout the week.
  • Consider planning a department-specific celebration for the student employees you work with.

The Office of Human Resources is preparing a swag bag for UHD's student employees. Student employees may collect their swag bag at any of the Student Employee Appreciation Week events. The Office of Human Resources will deliver swag bags to UHD Northwest student employees and any other student employees who are unable to attend the week's events.

Student employees may also contact Cece Booty, Student Employment Coordinator. She started as a student employee and has been a Gator for the past ten years. If you'd like to learn more about her you can read my profile on The Source, HR's weekly newsletter.
