What is Summer Bridge?
The Get Ready Gators Summer Bridge program is a five-week intensive academic program
for first time in college students. Summer Bridge is designed to aid freshman with
strengthening their academic skills, social integration, and transitioning from high
school to the university life. Moreover, the program will provide students with an
opportunity to become acclimated to the collegiate experience and provide a rewarding
and engaging experience.
Who should apply to participate in the program?
High School seniors graduating in May or June 2024.
What tests do I need to complete for the program?
TSI (Math, Reading, and Writing)
How long is the program?
This is a five-week academic program. The program is from Monday, July 8 – Thursday,
August 8, 2024.
What is the cost of the program?
The program is at no cost to you as a participant.*
*This will be dependent on submission of a FAFSA or TASFA application to UHD. The
UHD school code is 003612.
Can I work as a student in the program?
The UHD community encourages students to focus on the transition from high school
to college, and the academic rigor of the program. Considering the academic expectations
of this program, and the promotion of campus community and student engagement, working
can present limited time to apply to the program.
What support services are provided in the program?
Students will receive academic support outside of the classroom, participation in
social engagement, and peer support from current UHD students.
How long will I be in class each day?
The program consists of academic enrichment and support services to ensure success.
The academic courses are two (2) hours.
Does the program offer transportation?
Summer Bridge participants will receive a discounted parking rate of $30 for the summer
only. METRO bus and rail services are at no cost for the summer only, once enrolled
in the program and the appropriate form is submitted to UHD parking and transportation
services.
