Hsiao-Ming Wang has donned many hats—special agent, crime expert, professor—all in the name of justice…criminal justice. His career in criminal justice began shortly after earning a bachelor of commerce in Transportation Management from Taiwan’s Feng-Chi University. Taiwan Youth Ambassadors Share Culture, Talents with UHD Students

The Bayou Connection program welcomed a group of 16 Taiwan Youth Ambassadors (TYA) to the UHD campus Thursday. Founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China in 2009, the Taiwan Youth Ambassadors program allows exceptional Taiwanese college and university students to travel internationally, engage in cultural exchange, participate in dialogue with youth from other countries, and share the culture of Taiwan. UHD Celebrates 10th class of Taiwanese Police University Students

Tuesday marked the end of a two-week study abroad experience for about 20 visiting students from Taiwan’s Central Police University, an initiative supported by UHD and the Bayou Connection.
Throughout their visit, the students learned about the United States criminal justice system, toured dozens of major local attractions and attended classes in the College of Public Service. From Jan. 14 – 31, the English Language Institute at UHD will host a group of 13 students from the Central Police University (CPU) of Taiwan for a 2-week English for Special Purposes course and accompanying field trips. UHD Issues Proclamation to Taiwanese Liaison

This week, Vice Provost Michael Dressman presented Sarah Wu, director of the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic Cultural Office (TECO) with a proclamation heralding her service to the University and the Taiwanese community in Houston. Throughout her four-year tenure in Houston, Wu and TECO played instrumental roles in the establishment of the Bayou Connection, a committed group of Taiwanese Houstonians with a vision for building bridges between their two hometowns. UHD Welcomes Taiwanese Students January 12th

UHD will welcome 23 students from the Central Police University (CPU) of Taiwan on Jan. 12 for a three-week English language immersion program with UHD’s English Language Institute. According to Gail Kellersberger, ELI director, this program is an offshoot of the Bayou Connection Program which was forged by the UHD Department of Criminal Justice with the CPU and brings Taiwanese transfer students to UHD to study criminal justice.
