Hey, everyone! GivingTuesday is coming Dec. 3, and this year, it’s all about coming together to help Gator students at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD). We’re trying to raise $25,000, and every single dollar will go toward programs that make a real difference for students who are struggling.
College isn’t easy. At UHD, we see firsthand that many students juggle classes, jobs, and personal responsibilities all at once. For some, just making it through the week can be a challenge due to food insecurity, unexpected financial emergencies, or other basic need requirements. As an institution committed to student success, it is vital to step up and support programs that provide students with the resources they need to stay in school and thrive.
One of those programs is the Gator Emergency Fund, a program for when life throws students a curveball, whether it’s a family emergency, natural disaster, or some other expense. It helps keep students in school by giving them the support they need when things get tough.
Then there’s the 50th Anniversary Scholarship, which celebrates UHD’s legacy by helping students reduce the financial stress of paying for college. Scholarships like this make it possible for so many of us to chase our dreams without being held back by the cost of tuition.
GivingTuesday is about more than just donating—it’s about being part of a community that has each other’s backs. Every gift, no matter how small, helps a Gator stay in school, graduate, and build a better future.
So, let’s do this! On Dec. 3, 2024, take a few minutes to give back. Visit the GivingTuesday website and make a donation. Whether it’s $5 or $50, every bit helps. Together, we can make a huge impact for our Gator family.
