Fall is a time of pumpkins and tousled leaves, changing weather and too much candy. It is also a time when UHD joins many national and local organizations in reaffirming its commitment to justice, as on the university recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Throughout October, advocacy groups throughout the nation redouble their efforts to connect with and educate the public about the signs and horrific consequences of abuse. Too, it is a time to help survivors and uplift them.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides many resources to assist those enduring abuse, including an interactive guide on how to formulate a safety plan, ways to obtain legal assistance, and a database to identify local resources (the website has a quick exit button in case the user doesn’t want their partner to see them seeking help).
