Houston Hispanic Leadership Initiative

Mission Statement

The Mission of the University of Houston-Downtown Houston Hispanic Leadership Initiative is to Educate and Engage. Our activities focus on the issues and conditions that affect the Hispanic community of the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area, the state, and the region, especially relating to Citizenship, Economic Opportunities, Education, and Quality of Life.

Goals:

1.  Host an annual State of the Community conference.

         a.  Issue biannual white papers relating to one of the focus topics.

2.  Host a Hispanic Leadership Institute

        a.  Hold quarterly events featuring a presentation focusing on issues affecting the Hispanic community.

        b.  Focus on developing student leaders, emerging leaders, and established leaders.
