Employer Partnerships & MBA Career Counselor Scope of Responsibilities
Develop strategic corporate partnerships resulting in a recruiting network of employers and alumni to increase the volume, caliber, and diversity of internship and full-time professional opportunities for the Davies College of Business student. Work alongside a group of talented, creative, and motivated colleagues who have the same vision of our students succeeding at the highest level.
Provide one-on-one career coaching to MBA students interested in corporate careers. Capitalize on current knowledge of sectors, industries, specific companies, and professional/personal networks. Help students create strong application materials, network effectively, and prepare for interviews.
Lead and facilitate workshops aimed at preparing students for professional networking and On-Campus Recruiting, including resume and cover letter reviews, interviewing, and salary negotiation. Design skill-building events and panels that expose students to the competencies needed for the corporate work environment.
Manage, coordinate, and publicize on-campus job recruiting activities and extend the Career Center brand. Create effective marketing strategies/materials to increase participation in Career Center events. Attend local and national conferences to benchmark employer relations activities and outcomes.
Educational Qualifications
A UHD alum having earned a Bachelor of Science.
Professional Experience
Maxine is an award winning media and marketing director with over 25 years of experience driving strategic growth and brand visibility for leading media brands and companies. She has held leadership roles in the brand development of some award-winning media brands in major markets such as Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, Charlotte, Las Vegas, Norfolk and Memphis. Her career spans from Media Consultant, Market Program & Operations Director, Creative Director/Partner for an advertising agency, veteran Program Director, on-air talent, and national voiceover professional. Previously she held programming and operations management positions at some of the world's largest media groups such as Viacom, RKO, Infinity Broadcasting, Clear Channel (iHeart Media), and recently CBS Radio Corp. in Dallas and Houston. Having successfully launched seven new radio brands and re-launched a few more in major markets, her expertise is in strategic planning, as well as deconstructing and reconstructing the brand from research and development/talent development to brand launch.
A few years ago, Maxine swapped her corporate professional role as Regional VP for a brokerage firm, to develop employer partnerships and guide MBA students on how to build and market their personal brand. Active in the community with a past dedication to 4 non-profit boards, currently serving for the past 10 years on the Board of Directors for Houston's Jazz Education Inc., providing music education in schools. Maxine also remains a film and music fanatic, musician, avid fisher-woman and sailing-certified explorer of the outdoors.
